In Cities: Skylines a segment is - depending on the context - either a visible or invisible, straight or bent part that serves a special purpose (e.g. road segments exist to allow car movements, ship paths dictate the possible movements of ships, and water pipe segments enable water supply). Each segment is always connected to exactly two nodes. One is called the start node, the other is called the end node of the segment. Segments may consist of a number of lanes which, for example - may describe concrete movement pathways for individual entities.
